Prayer sharpens our faith

Prayer is powerful and brings about change

The act of prayer is what creates our intimacy with God. It deepens our dependence on Him and sharpens our faith. When we pray we choose to put everything in God’s hands knowing that His hand will show up in every aspect of our lives and in those around us.

We all can enter prayer with a posture of trust, openness, and faith, believing that God can do far more than we could even ask or imagine.

WHY WE FAST

It helps focus our attention on God.

It's about the heart, not the outward appearance.

It’s not about getting from God, but rather getting closer to God.

It’s not about what we are saying “no” to, but rather what we are saying “yes” to.

Fasting is the practice of choosing to abstain from certain foods or habits or an activity for a certain period of time. It is a spiritual discipline, the purpose of which is training to become more like Jesus.


TYPES OF FASTS

 
 

Fasting Food or Media

Food Fast

This type of fast involves removing certain foods from your diet. This can be a Liquid Fast, Choosing 1 Food to abstain from, or the Daniel Fast.

The Daniel Fast it when you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.

Soul Fast

This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance.

For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast to focus more time on seeking God.
